Nissim, a successful business investor based in Hong Kong, is helping with investor relations in Hong Kong/Asia. He is veteran Hedge Fund manager currently managing Hexa Asset Management. Previously, he was Chief Executive Officer at Sofaer Global Research (HK) . He has been engaged in the hedge fund business since 1987. He held various senior management positions with reputable firms including ARRAL & Associates, the Pacific Group Ltd. and the Sofaer Group. He was formerly the Head of Trading at Sofaer Global Research (HK) Ltd. Before that, he was Director & Co-Founder of Pi Investment Management Ltd. (formerly RAB Capital (Asia) Ltd.)Mr. Tse holds a holds BA degree in Finance & Economics from University of Western Ontario Canada in 1982. He is a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Investment Analysts since 1994.


Derek Kwik
Brave Soldier Ventures

Derek comes to Elementz as a key advisor for portfolio management, exit strategy and investment partners.

Born and educated in Hong Kong, Derek is an early “returnee” to Asia with 25+ years of APAC market entry experience. Since the 90s, his early work in venture capital makes him one of the first investors involved with Asia based startups. Starting with first gen internet companies, he has reviewed 15,000+ business plans. He was part of a core team that managed funds for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Singapore Government Investment Corporation (GIC), Sun Microsystems, Mitsui, Fujitsu, NTT Docomo and PCCW.

As one of the most respected tech community leaders, he is involved with nearly every accelerator/co-working space in HK. Since 2004, Derek is the Managing Partner of BraveSoldier Venture Capital, an early stage tech fund. With a background in i-banking, direct investment and mgmt consulting, his fundraising experience includes seed, family office, Series A and IPOs. He was the CEO of a Chinese mobile payments company and credited for “leading from the front” from seed round to commercial responsibilities to investor exit. With 500+ “day trips” to the Greater Bay, Derek has direct manufacturing involvement in telecoms, robotics, wearables and pc peripherals.

Derek is an author of two books, university lecturer, US-Global Innovation Fellow, TEDx speaker, current board member and former Trustee/co-Chairman of the Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals (SPCA), board member of Junior Achievement HK, mgmt committee of New World Group’s – Eureka Nova, advisor to the Open University of Hong Kong and mentor/advisor to start-ups. He is an extreme multi-day ultra-marathoner, PADI Dive Master and jiujitsu practitioner.

Roland Yau
CoCoon Ignite Ventures

Roland is advising Elementz on legal, structuring and compliance.

Roland is currently the Managing Partner of CoCoon Ignite Ventures, L.P., an early stage venture fund focusing on investments in consumer technologies. 

Prior to establishing CoCoon Ignite Ventures, Roland was a corporate lawyer at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, an international law firm.  At Freshfields, Roland worked on an array of corporate financing and structuring transactions relating to fundraising, deal structuring and mergers and acquisitions both for public as well as private companies. In addition to transactions, Roland also worked with companies on their ongoing compliance obligations.

Roland graduated from the New York University in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in biology and graduated from the University of London in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in law 2007.

Adam Homsi

Adam is a CTO of Elementz Interactive and President of InkCloud Technologies based in Santa Monica, CA. He has extensive startup, executive management, and technical architecture experience. He has also architected and implemented modern software used to support daily business operations of several high profile ecommerce and ERP partners.

Some highlights:

  • Architected and implemented an ERP print information management software that has processed over $30 million in sales.
  • Launched a software-as-a-service platform used by print industry brokers, retailers and manufacturers. Designed software that processes $10 million in transactions annually.
  • Assessed, redeveloped and designed architected multiple modern software systems based on latest open source code standards  (ie. Google, Facebook, Amazon)
  • In 2006 he started a trade print company, 12,000 acquired customers, $15 million dollars in revenue, and 4 years later, his company was acquired by a Chinese investor.
Charles S. Levy
New Ventures

Charles supports Elementz to engage with investments partners, private equity and private wealth families.

As an advisor to technology start-ups and established businesses seeking to expand their portfolios, Charles has a passion for innovation and a keen sense of market dynamics and disruptive technologies.  As a founder of several entrepreneurial businesses, his background in retail technologies, FinTech and software platforms, coupled with his practical insights, help transform vision to execution.

For the past five years, Charles served on the Allocation Committee of the Jewish Federation and as a Board Trustee. In this role, he was responsible for fundraising and allocating millions of dollars to non-profit institutions, helping to make the world a better place.

Charles was born in Morocco and moved to Hong Kong after living in Tel Aviv, Silicon Valley and Portland, Oregon. He is fluent in English, French, Hebrew and Arabic.

Niall McSheffrey
Managing Partner

Niall McSheffrey is Founding Partner of Elementz Ventures and brings his key strengths of investment fundraising, startup due diligence, and leadership to the partnership. His particular investment focus is in software technology assessment, business innovation, and start-up growth. Niall has been a successful entrepreneur for over 25-years in product management, software technologies, application development, sales, marketing as well as implementing product strategies and solutions.

Prior to Elementz Ventures, he served as President of Elementz Interactive, a software product agency for ten years, where he led the company as well as product strategy, design, and development. He grew Elementz from one employee to a talented team of over 50 engineers, project managers, product managers, and testers. He has personally overseen 50 projects from concept to growth stage for different startups and SMEs.

He has been at the forefront of leveraging new  Technologies for Elementz including mobile and web apps to better serve his clients’ business needs. Preferring to see a project through all stages of growth, created Elementz as a creative, innovative environment and enjoys the challenge of strategizing, developing, and deploying new software products. Now based in Orange County, California, Niall has traveled to over 60 countries and has lived both in Europe and Asia over the course of his career.

He graduated from the Thunderbird School of Management with a global MBA in 2010. He brings his global expertise and experience by engaging with different audiences regarding SaaS, mobile app technologies, product design & development, and team building.

In his spare time, Niall hikes any spectacular mountain wherever he goes, is an avid reader of historical or biographical books and is a closet rock guitarist.

Irving Kau
Managing Partner

Irving Kau is Partner in Elementz Ventures and brings his key strengths of fund management, investor relations, research, and leadership to the partnership. Irving Kau brings his extensive experience in both the global public investment and global private investment with access to North American and Asia-Pacific-based outlets. During his career, he has worked on the buy-side/investor, sell-side/advisor, and corporate side. Over his career, he has successfully completed over $100M in investments for 15+ companies and taken 8 companies public onto NASDAQ. He is a detail-oriented, global leader focusing himself on follow-through, execution, and task completion. He deeply values character and ‘doing the right thing’ in each and every circumstance despite any potential short term effects.  

Irving is also a Managing Director of KW Capital Partners, a private equity group focusing on pre-IPO investment in N. America that brings innovative and technology companies to a public NASDAQ-listing.  Based on its unique niche, expertise in growth industry sectors and capital markets, KW routinely returns an average return on investment (ROI) of 50-90%. 

He holds an MBA from Rice University in Finance & Strategy and has studied for his Ph.D. at USC in Business Strategy. He also holds FINRA Series 7, 86 & 87 licenses.

Rogerio Ramos
Venture Partner

Rogerio Ramos brings his solid track record in fund management, portfolio management and fund structuring to Elementz Ventures as a Venture Partner. Rogerio helped to establish the Venture Capital industry in Latin America and the Caribbean, investing in over 80 funds targeting the region, and advising HNWI, Family Office, and Institutional Investors. Rogerio also brings experience sourcing, structuring, and managing investment transactions in the U.S. and in over 30 Emerging Markets.  Solid experience working with start-up, early-stage and mid-market companies; effective in developing business and go-to-market strategies.

Rogerio was previously Managing Partner in KPTL Growth Fund (prior A5 Capital Partners) which invested in consumer-oriented technologies, B2B, and B2B2C transactions in Brazil, Latin America, and the US. KPTL currently manages over US$200 million across five venture capital funds. Rogerio participated in KPTL investment at Agrotools, Brazil’s largest digital platform serving the agribusiness sector by connecting farmers, bankers, insurance companies, traders, and supply chain players. He also spent over 16 years with the Inter-American Development Bank(IDB) where he oversaw both the Bank’s Private Equity and Venture Capital Programs in Latin America and the Caribbean and served on Fund’s Advisory Boards and Investment Committees, and on the Board of Directors of portfolio companies. Rogerio supported regional funds such as Advent International, Baring Private Equity, local funds such as Stratus Brazil, AllVP Mexico, and sector related funds, including designing and structuring Latin America first Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy fund. On the direct investment side, Rogerio managed the investment at Torrecom, a leading developer, owner, and operator of Wireless Infrastructure in Latin America, and Wind Telecom, a triple play telecommunications provider in the Dominican Republic. He was part of the TMT group, developing investment opportunities in IoT, Smart Cities, and Fintech.

He has an MBA from John Hopkins University, Carey Business School, a Master of Arts in International Trade and Investment Policy from the George Washington University, and an Executive Program in Private Equity / Venture Capital from Harvard Business School. Rogerio is fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
